So hot
I suppose the weather is unbearably hot in most places around the world right now (except San Diego of course)… and the same is true here. Over the long weekend we dealt with extreme heat warnings and stifling humidity.
Since a gracious neighbor allowed us to borrow her car while she was out of town, we ventured out a bit despite the heat.
On Friday we did a few errands in the morning and then went to check out some local beaches later in the afternoon. The water was very nice—refreshing, but not super cold.

On Saturday we did some more shopping, and found this Hello Kitty (popcorn?) machine, along with some more fun new snacks. I also bought a pop-up canopy and set it up in the front yard for Wile E 🐶
Sunday was still super hot, and I was planning to stick close to the AC again, but E convinced us to take a trip to a nearby island…
We navigated our way to the ferry, and explored the touristy area along the shore. This place is known for a giant torii gate that’s only accessible at low tide, “momiji manjū” a red bean-mochi treat, fresh oysters, and “wild” deer (that like ice cream). There was also an aquarium (which was air conditioned, so we went) and some cool hiking trails (which were not air conditioned, so we didn’t go).

The kids were real troopers, excited to explore and not complaining about the heat (which is more than I can say for myself!) and we all made it back without completely melting.
We wrapped up the weekend by watching a movie — the kids and I saw “The Mitchells vs the Machines” at home, and E saw “Horizon” at the base theater.
Looking forward to a potential break in the weather this week!

Make sure you turn off the heater on your toto. Hope you get some cool relief. Love the pictures.
That’s a big manta ray!!
