summer is coming
The weather has started to warm up here and summer is definitely on its way… we are not looking forward to the heat, but trying to make the most of this beautiful window of time!
This week was busy with lots of end-of-school activities including field day, step-up day, and a field trip for each kid. I played in the end-of-season kickball tournament and volunteered at a few events with Wile E. We are also starting to say farewell to friends who will move away this summer.

This weekend E even had a chance to represent the base in a local Shinto ceremony to pray for safety of the upcoming Cormorant Fishing season. He did his part perfectly (including all 10 bows and 2 claps)!

To celebrate (my All-Star team win, the beautiful weather, cormorants), we went out to one of our favorite yakiniku (grilled meat) restaurants. After the meal we found several fruit sorbets on the menu — they were close to $5 each (much more expensive than the $1 soft serve option), but we decided to splurge. When they arrived we were shocked to find that each was served in its own skin! So cool!!

Hope all you are enjoying the late spring weather in your corner of the world!
